Summer school which is part of the activities of ICOIRS 2016 carried out from December 11 to October 17 in Yogyakarta. Participants SC themed Disaster Rapid Mapping Technique for Global Change Observation And Data Acquisition are from countries Philippines, Malaysia, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, Brunei, Singapore and Indonesia.

The themes taught are about Near real time RS of data for rapid mapping technique, Near real-time remote sensing analysis, Remote Sensing for disaster mapping method, GCPs and photogrammetry for rapid mapping, Technique and method of data acquisition for rapid mapping using UAVs, spatial data acquisition using UAVs and its processing, Integration of near real-time remote sensing and UAV-derive the data, Introduction to RapMet, and Field Mapping Practise using UAVs.
